We were established in 1978 as Colin Coates & Co., taxation consultants and independent financial advisers.

Michael Ashley became a partner in 1990 and the tax consultancy practice started trading as Colin Coates & Partners. Robin Simmonds was admitted to partnership in June 1998. On 1 June 2002 we transferred the whole business into CCPtax Limited but we still continue to trade under the banner Colin Coates and Partners. Colin, Michael and Robin are Directors and Shareholders of this Company.

We are Tax Advisers. More broadly we are a General Practice firm with a specialism in taxation advice, in which we are qualified by both experience and professional qualification. We follow the Ethical Rules and Guidelines of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

We are an independent multi-disciplinary firm. We have also built up a network of people and businesses around us with complimentary expertise. We can, therefore, in addition to taxation offer a full range of tax, accountancy, legal and financial services (independent fee charging financial advice). In so far as accountancy, audit and Company Law work is concerned we employ practicing Chartered Accountants to deal with this on our behalf.

We carry Professional Indemnity Insurance.

What is a Tax Adviser? - A tax adviser is a professional who mainly and independently gives tax advice. Tax advice means the preparation and submission of tax returns, advice on tax planning, representation and defence of taxpayers before authorities and courts and the provision of overall advice in the area of taxation and complimentary accounting and legal services.
